She is vomiting old blood again.
Her reflux is irritating her stomach and oesophagus to the point where it bleeds a little bit. She is on the maximum dose of the drugs she can take now, after her cardio op she can start taking a more powerful drug and/or have a surgery to attempt a fix. Today, however, she started vomiting at 4:30am and has been vomiting on and off until now. She is still blowing spit bubbles and is unhappy which tells me that she is still silent refluxing - but she has finally dozed off in her rocker - restless sleep though it is. Cardio surgery is still at least 2-4 weeks away. Please pray that she get some relief and also that she does not asparate - if she inhales some vomit and gets sick from that, it could mess with our cardio surgery plans and longer term plans to relieve her reflux

Stellan
The very observant among you will notice that I have removed the "Praying for Stellan" button from the side of my Blog. This is because his operation has been a rip roaring success! He has less than a 1% chance of ever developing SVT again! While his family remain in our prayer box, I am removing his button for now.
Mercy is also doing brilliantly and responding to her new meds better than anyone hoped. There is some talk of surgery in her future too so I am leaving her button there to remind me and encourage you to keep her in your prayers.
In other prayer request updates, the Lockwood family continue to need your prayers as the minister in Mexico. So far in the last year or so they have faced a liver issue that was suspected to be fatal cancer in Daddy Lockwood, complicated pregnancy, pre-term c-section delivery, car accidents, kidney infections, HURRICANES!! Flu with 12 kids sounds scary enough and they have faced that too. They are on a bit more of an even keel at the moment, however persistent skin infections in two of the kids are in need of prayer and wisdom.
As I bragged earlier, I have met The Triplets! Last I heard the plan was to take them home today. Please keep them, their parents and their sisters in your prayers. Please especially pray for Dani as she tries to keep her milk supply up to feed three hungry mouths!

Danielle and the Triplets...
will meet face to face today! Please pray for her, the medical staff, the babies and her family.
Edited to add: As I have been haunting my computer for news of Danni and the babies I found out that Stellan, a little boy in the states who we have been praying for as a family, is going in to have heart surgery very soon. This is very dangerous and he and his family need all the prayers they can get. So go and check out his Mum's blog My Charming Kids and whisper a prayer for Stellan.
Edited AGAIN to add: Details! Triplet 1 born at 2.26pm - Holly Georgina, 5lb 9ozs. Triplet 2 born at 2.27pm - Daisy Grace, 4lb 15 ozs. Triplet 3 born at 2.30pm - Lily Cheyenne, 5lbs 10ozs. Daisy and Lily are twins. All 3 doing well. Please continue to hold up this family in prayer as they adjust to life with triplets!

Prayer request
I have a friend who is about 28 weeks pregnant. This is her fourth pregnancy and she was planning a home birth. A couple of weeks ago she went in for a check and she was measuring high for dates so she had an ultrasound where two little bubbas were found floating around! The next week she went for a more extensive ultrasound and they found ANOTHER one! Yes, she got nearly two thirds through a triplet pregnancy without realising it! I THINK we can safely say there are ONLY three in there!
She and her hubby seem to be handling things beautifully, but going from a family of five to a family of EIGHT in one hit is a big adjustment.
One of the biggest challenges they currently face is the attitude of the medical establishment. Unfortunately, she is facing an attitude of bullying from doctors who believe that there is NO way she should even be allowed to trial labour and, in fact, they tried to give her a shot of steroids with no prior warning "just in case" the babies came early (she has had NO sign of pre-term labour and is already at 28 weeks). While she doesn't want to be foolish about the added concerns and risks of a triplet pregnancy, she DOES want to be included in decisions made about her body and her children - not too much to ask in my book! So please pray that she will be given wisdom and direction and the health professionals will treat her with respect and courtesy, offering their learning, advice and experience to facilitate her and her husband to make wise and considered decisions.
Please also pray that they and their other three daughters will receive all the support they need and will feel God's presence and peace as they plunge into the world of triplets! A wonderful blessing, and a wonderful challenge!

If Christopher had been Bolivian....
....This is what he would have looked like!!
My son has a twin in a Bolivian orphanage! Go and have a look, the similarity is uncanny! (Christopher needs a haircut too)
and please pop over to the Lockwood Family's blog and pray for them if you have a moment.

....in moments of self pity....
I haven't actually been feeling self pity at the moment, but using the blog-sphere the Lord dropped a few people in my lap to pray for at the moment. The one that has stood out to me is Promise She now lives at Sarah's Covenant Homes in India, an organisation which specialises in caring for children with special needs in a family style environment. If you have a moment or need a reality check....

First contract week
Prayer Requests:
You may have noticed the "Pray for Mercy" button on the right hand side of the blog (scroll down if you can't see it). This is to ask for prayers for Mercy Peterson who has a large Hemangioma and other problems as a symptom of PHACE syndrome. I am a regular reader of her family Blog, Home of the Peterson Clan, and have been praying for this little girl for a while. Her Mum has sent out a request for any and all prayers as they face the ongoing medical, emotional, spiritual and practical challenges in store for them.
The Lockwood Family continue to need prayers as they face the challenges of a very tricky pregnancy! Placenta completely covering the cervix and growing into an old c-section scar. This with the challenges of having to settle in back in the USA (they had been in Mexico as missionaries for many years until this pregnancy caused them to have to move temporarily) and raising their other 11 children.
Close to my heart and home are the victims of the Victorian Bushfires who are homeless, grieving for loved ones and/or injured. This will take many years to even superficially heal, whole communities have been wiped out. Check out this Etsy Shop that is fundraising for bushfire victims. Also, the victims of the Queensland flood. Especially the parents of the little boy who is thought to have been taken by a crocodile.
And closest is my Big Bro who is still healing from surgery and a marriage break up. Thankfully, his home has not been touched by the fires. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
Goals
Well, this is the end of the week. It seems a little trivial after the big prayer requests, but it is part of stweardship of the baby making machine God entrusted me with! And I have to confess, I think my goals weren't quite as realistic as I first thought!
Ride the exercise bike for 20 minutes four times this week............Um, oops, not once!
Walk to the post office four times this week (weather permitting)........yes I did do this one
Use my exercise videos three times this week...........I only managed twice
Take my iron supplement every day to build up my Iron stores........yes, did it!
Restrict yummy treats to Wednesday Afternoon tea and Sabbath meals....I went to playgroup on Thursday and there was a lady there with some slice and, well, she may have been offended if I didn't at least TRY some. I also need to get into a 12 step program for my addiction to chocolate milk, it was only by sheer will power that I only slipped once!
Snack only on raw fruit and vegetables......I managed this one too, but we are running very short on carrots now! It wasn't easy, I found myself looking wistfully at the peanut butter a lot!
Drink at least 1.5L of water per day.............I only missed this two days out of the week
Do Kegel Exercises twice a day..............did it!
Overall, I do feel like I am starting to make SOME progress toward NOT being the saggy baggy elephant and I can feel my tummy and back muscles starting to get back to normal, even get some tone back, which will make the next pregnancy MUCH more comfortable (I hope!).
Next weeks goals (a little more realistic perhaps?)

And last of all, a link to an interesting interview with a mother of 20 - and people say MY family is large!! While I don't share her theology, the faith evident in her words and her passion for her children draw me to her!

PRAYER REQUEST
Please don't mistake my lack of comment on the fires as lack of caring. I have just felt so shell-shocked about it I haven't been able to put words to it.
For those who don't know, Victoria, the state where most of my family live, is currently burning. Well over 100 people have been killed in the fires, most are saying that the fatalities will likely be 2oo or over when the final tally is in. Thousands are homeless, hundreds are injured. My family has stayed safe and as far as I know all their houses are safe too. It was touch and go for my older brother's house, he couldn't even go and defend it because he had major back surgery on Friday.
Please pray for all those affected by the fires and especially pray for my older brother who has been facing a triple whammy of a marriage break up, back surgery and having his home at risk of burning to the ground.

A *proper* update
Mum arrived last night and Bek and Shane left with the kids. We are missing having Bek and Shane around already but loving having Mum here. My kitchen looks fabulous after only having Mum here for about 24 hours!
Erin:
got a little toy mobile phone with lollies in it as a special treat because she's been helping nurse all the sickies. The quote of today comes from her though. She got a new doctor's kit from Nana Julie and was playing with it in the lounge room. The phrase we overheard that REALLY cracked us up was "Trust me...I'm a doctor."
Billy:
is still unwell, he threw up all over the dinner table last night (nobody wanted dessert after that - except Erin who performed a detailed examination of her brother's vomit! If that girl doesn't do something medical I will eat my hat.). He is getting better though with no vomit or "southern explosions" today. He has, however, been bitten by mosquitoes all over his head and arms and has reacted quite badly. His face, one ear and large patches of his arms are swollen and red. Still, through it all he is quite stoic. Nana Julie has plans of taking him to the wildlife park as a special treat when he feels better.
Christopher:
isn't feeling too well either. Quite a few "southern explosions" today the poor love. He still manages to spend so much of his time HAPPY though. I wonder how he will cope when the new bub comes. He took a few individual steps today too. His poor little legs are covered in a rash because I let him play outside in just a nappy and he reacted to the grass. Both my poor boys are sick, swollen and red! It doesn't seem to bother him at all though with only the tummy pains and runs seeming to cause him any distress. He is loving extra cuddles from Nana Julie.
New Bub:
is sitting VERY low but seems to be quite happy in situ. I am looking forward to meeting this bub, even though we have so many things I'd like to get done. Jon has bought Bub's special bear. We have a special family tradition where Jon chooses a teddy bear for each new baby we have. This comes from the bear that he still has that his Dad bought for him when his Mum was pregnant. Erin has Brown Bear, Billy has Red Bear, Christopher has Bikkie Bear and Bub now has Ginger Bear.
The house:
looks pretty good all things considered! Thanks to the mighty efforts of Bek, the washing was kept up with. We have even aired out things covered by the plaster dust. Sarah had a fantastic go at the plaster dust still remaining so I am not stressed about filling bub's lungs with it anymore. Mum has given my kitchen a bit of a go over and organise which is brilliant. I have mopped most of the ceilings to get rid of the plaster dust (and cobwebs!) and washed down most of the walls. There is just a bit more organising I'd like to do, some sheets I want to sew and a few other 'loose end' tasks before I will feel totally ready for Bub's arrival. The front room is now "noggined out" (ooohh, look at me using fancy builders jargon!!) and it won't be long until we (that is Jon and someone who is probably not me) put up plaster board.
The Garden:
has provided hot pink roses and lavender for Mum's caravan. The guys ripped up some shrubs etc. that I didn't want in the front garden so that they could take out the fence and back the trailer in next to the front window, making it easier to throw out the plaster etc they were ripping down
Exercise:
Ha!!
Prayer requests:
I'd just like to ask for ongoing prayer for our family health. Jon is a whole lot better and the boys are recovering. We have received GREAT mercy and so far we have gotten off lightly. There is so much to praise God for amid all the nasties of sickness. My Big brother is still on a cocktail of drugs to control his pain and will be getting back surgery sooner rather than later. My baby brother is off travelling the world! He is in South America right now. The Lockwood Family also need prayers and encouragement as they try and settle in away from home and await the arrival of their newest bub amid many, many concerns for the little man's welfare, not to mention the Mama's!

You know how I said that Billy's bug was a 24 hour bug? I was wrong, very wrong. He was fine all morning then power chucked as I got him out of the bath. Followed by the worst case of the runs I have ever seen - all over the couch. Christopher spent most of the day laying across my chest and Beloved started vomiting at about 4am. Pray for us please!
Dear Lord,
Please keep me well enough to watch over my family. If I must succumb to this bug, I pray that it will NOT kick start labour. If it must, I pray that I get it LAST. I pray also that Beloved's dose will be mild, not like the last tummy bug he got that lasted over a year in its effects. Thank you for the family and friends who are chipping in to take care of us. Thank you that this is happening BEFORE Bub is born. Thank you for Your strength, wisdom and compassion. And Lord - HELP! Thank you that with your help, I can laugh at the days to come, even when they potentially hold so many challenges. Bring healing to my family Lord.
Amen
Also, can you please remember my Big Brother in your prayers? He got hauled off to Hospital on Saturday with SEVERE back pain. He is also amidst some personal "stuff" that doesn't make things easier!

Of visitors, plaster dust, toddlers and - well - vomit!
A stolen moment for a quick update! No baby yet but I am in disgustingly good health at the moment - YAY! I even had a little jump on the trampoline with the kids the other day which probably scared the neighbours. We had some very good friends come to stay on Monday. They have 2 children, a girl 6 weeks older than Billy and a boy 8 weeks older than Christopher and they are expecting their third in May. Shane, the Daddy of the family, has known Beloved since they were 4, they have been each other's best men and our youngest sons are named Christopher SHANE and Stephen JON after each other. They live on the mainland so it is fairly rare to catch up. We have been staying up WAY too late talking (2am!) most nights.
We have also taken full advantage of the fact that Shane is a handy man and he and Beloved are working madly on the front room. Of course that means that everything that was in the front hall blocking that door is now spread out in my recently organised lounge room, but this isn't so bad. The PLASTER DUST that coats EVERYTHING is a little harder to deal with! I had forgotten how awful plaster dust is. Luckily they have finished ripping down the plaster now and today they will be starting to put things back together. So we have 5 children under 5, 2 pregnant women, a disorganised house - what could add to this wonderful mix? Well add to I don't know, but Billy started throwing up yesterday and woke gagging this morning so please pray that gastro WILL NOT add to this mix LOL. I wouldn't mind if Bub stayed put also, just for another week or two to let me get organised! I had better head back to the fray, but if things remain quiet for a bit don't worry, there is just a big REAL WORLD focus in this house at the moment!

Update
Christmas is over and we are all recovering! It was wonderful actually and we had a lovely relaxing time. My grandmother and Beloved's parent's joined us for a lovely day. I got a bit carried away with gifts for the children and three each ended up a bit of an over-kill, but they are all good quality and most of them are played with by all of them. Christmas Dinner was roast turkey (I dried it out a little bit, but it wasn't too bad) with baked veg, steamed veg and salad so fairly simple. We also had pudding and fruit skewers for dessert.
Erin:
has loved having family around and thrived on the excitement of Christmas. One of my most favourite memories of the day is Erin making Christmas Pudding with her grandmother and great grandmother. She also threaded grapes and berries in skewers for after-dinner fruit skewers. She took great pride in her contribution to the Christmas meal! Somehow she has grown up again. I think she has gotten taller, but that isn't really what I am talking about. She has just somehow grown up. Something in her manner has matured and I sometimes see glimpses of the young lady to come. Part of me is so proud of her and her many accomplishments (she read the sentence "My mosquito bites will stop being red and itchy in a few days" today with very little help!) and part of me just wants to wrap her up and cuddle her tight to keep her safe. My little bird is growing plumage and I can see one day she shall fly.
Billy:
had difficulty containing his excitement with the day and the visitors, but he did still enjoy himself immensely. Apparently he crawled into his Nanny's lap and wanted to pray for her. He has also said grace quite a few times. When Nanny had to leave the table to have a rest, he desperately wanted to say grace again for dessert. We explained that we had already asked a blessing on the whole meal, but he insisted. So we bowed our heads (Poppy got a stern look when he didn't down cutlery IMMEDIATELY for prayer! LOL) and what followed wasn't a blessing on the food but a long, heartfelt prayer about Nanny resting and needing rest and needing healing etc. It caused me to tear up!
Christopher:
has taken CONSECUTIVE steps (only two at a time, but still) on more than one occasion. We will have a sprinter soon enough. He is perfecting the art of the dummy-spit but it still rarely if ever gets him anywhere. It can be difficult to stifle the laughter when he throws himself on the ground, fake cries then looks up to see if you're looking at him! He has loved having the extra people around over the holidays and crumpled a little when anyone left. I think he has similar social tendencies to his sister. His special delight is trying on the hats that I bought Billy for Christmas. The pirate hat looks best, but the knight's helmet, the fireman's helmet and the racing bike driver's helmet also look smashing!
The New Baby:
is just fine. My ankles have swollen up to elephantine size over the last few days though so I am on strict instructions to rest with my feet UP. This is not easy to do as I have a million and one things I want to do and other than feeling a little tired, I feel just great. I need some more tests (a 24 hour urine collection which should be fun - not!) to rule out pre-eclampsia, which could end up with me not only birthing in hospital but having a few days on bed rest (possibly in hospital) or being induced which I really don't fancy! I am not too worried at this stage as I believe the protein in my urine is simply a UTI which I usually have when pregnant (antibiotics don't seem to shake it for more than a week or so) and slightly dodgy kidneys. The unusual swelling I put down to the hot weather and Christmas with 3 kids under 4 and a half. It is best to check these things out though and I am again asking for your prayers. Bub is perfectly happy though and settled ready for exit. I am getting plenty of movement, even though there isn't as much room in there (my mother-in-love played the jungle drums on my belly last night!). I tickle the feet of my little one through the side of my belly, I compulsively check the contents of my birth bag just to look at the tiny nappies and clothes (not too tiny - I'm yet to have a REALLY tiny baby!) and day dream about those precious newborn noises, the smell, the warm weight, feeding a little one again, those precious night-time hours when the house is asleep and all you can hear is the tiny gunk-gunk-gunk of the baby swallowing through a sleepy haze.
The house:
still has the remnants of Christmas strewn about and the kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it. Resting with my feet up means there isn't a whole lot I can do about this! I think this is the most frustrating part, being unable to get into the nesting and organising. Before the resting though, I almost finished re-arranging the lounge room so at least as I lay back in my recliner the view ISN'T of boxes and junk..
The Garden:
got a bit of weeding thanks to my MIL and my great-grandmother. I was getting them to help me identify some of the flowers that had sprung up and one thing led to another - we didn't over do it but it has made a huge difference. We found sweet williams, pinks, dianthus, and a hot pink rose.
Exercise:
has been curtailed by the swelling and needing to keep my feet up unfortunately. I had hoped to keep mobile up until delivery but the best laid plans....

Erin:
has loved having family around and thrived on the excitement of Christmas.

Update
Do you know what happens when a woman who is 37 weeks pregnant goes into town for a check up? She and her husband find a million and one "I'll just..." jobs to do in the heat and the Christmas crowds. Do you know what happens when she decides to wait in the car as the hardware shop because her back is killing her and her ankles have swollen to the size of watermelons? The oldest will decide she DESPERATELY needs the loo. Do you know what happens then? The woman with the sore back, legs, EVERYTHING hauls herself and the children out of the car and LOCKS THE KEYS IN THE CAR. The children enjoyed a nutritious tea of KFC at about 9, or was it 10pm? Ahhh well, at least it was a hardware shop I locked the keys in the car in front of, it made it much easier to break in when we could just nip in and purchase the needed hardware to do it!
Erin:
considers herself a super hero because it was SHE who was passed through the window to unlock the car. We went to a community Christmas Celebration on Sunday and she has her face painted like a sun, jumped on the jumping castle and had a fantastic time.
Billy:
enjoyed an afternoon with Daddy on his own today while the other two came with me to the birth centre and hospital. I am told he was very good and he loved every minute! He got painted up as a tiger on Sunday and joined in the games with complete strangers! We almost needed a crow bar to pry him away from the jumping castle.
Christopher:
coped exceptionally well with being stuck in a pram most of the day today and smiled charmingly at everyone he met. He has taken two or three individual steps, we may have a sprinter by New Years.
New Bub:
will be born at the Birth Centre according to all forecasts. I don't even need an iron infusion! I had a lovely OB at the hospital check things out and add his expert opinion. He looked about 70 years old and was as sharp as a tack. His expert opinion was everything will be fine if I stick with the Iron supplements. He gave a few other suggestions and recommended a couple of tests (I had major protein in my urine, but this is not unusual for me) but was altogether positive and confident. When you get such a positive review from a fellow who may well have delivered babies who are now grandparents, it gives you a boost! So all systems are go.
Home:
there is a slice of paradise in my bathroom and it is called a SHOWER! It is fully functioning and it is the most wonderful sensory experience there is! All the more special because Beloved built it. It is still a bit difficult to adjust the temperature, but that is because of the hot water system. It looks like something out of a show room with black marbled tiles, white base, chrome coloured tap ware and glass screens. We have also started re-arranging the lounge room and the visual relief is fantastic. Sarah-the-saint cleaned the oven this week in preparation for the Christmas turkey. She earned her money this week!
The Garden:
has produced a strawberry. It was carefully picked and kept in the fridge to show Daddy. Then it was carefully cut into thirds to be shared between Erin, Billy and Daddy. Never has a strawberry been more thoroughly enjoyed!
Exercise:
I have actually got on the bike a few times in the past week! I have gone for walks too. I feel much better for it of course. I am also brown as a berry because of the sun outside.

Prayer request: Iron levels
This one's for me. At the start of my pregnancy when I had my bloods checked (OK, it was the middle of the pregnancy by the time I had it done) my iron store levels were low. I figured this was because of some major nose bleeds I'd been having. So I took some Iron supplement for a while, my energy levels picked up and I figured "she'll be right mate" (roughly translated to hakuna mattata or don't worry be happy for my international readers) and stopped taking the Iron supplement because, well, have you seen what things like that COST!!
My midwife suggested that I get my iron levels checked again. I thought it was a bit of a waste of time because I feel FINE, better than fine, I am NESTING. But at her insistence I got it done, three weeks later (the boys had colds and I am BUSY and I feel FINE I tells ya). The results came back and, well, not good people. My Iron levels are very very very very very low, as opposed to the just very low they were. In fact, due to the fact that my other babies have been accompanied by very significant 'bleeds' (I looked at the bath after having Billy and said "Gee, it looks like the set of Jaws in here!"), this may mean either an iron transfusion or birthing at the hospital rather than my nice cosy little birth centre. Possibly both.
I feel a bit silly about it because if I had kept up with the Iron supplements, gotten my bloods done at the START of my pregnancy so it was caught early or even gone and got my levels tested three weeks earlier it would be much less of an issue. Ooops! Anyway, I am now taking a supplement and my lovely Christian midwife is getting back to be with options! Prayers would be appreciated!
